PhytoprofenVET is a unique blend of botanical extracts, curcumin, Boswellia, and ginger, combined with bromelain to help minimize post-injury bruising and swelling and support post-surgery healing. PhytoprofenVET is an exclusive ThorneVET formula that combines several botanicals, including a synergistic blend of the Ayurvedic herbs – ginger, Boswellia, and curcumin (that is bound to phospholipids for enhanced absorption – CurcuVET) – all of which help maintain a healthy balance of cytokines. Cytokines are cell-signaling molecules that aid cell-to-cell communication in immune responses and stimulate the movement of cells. PhytoprofenVET can be used for cats, dogs, and horses.

PhytoprofenVET from Thorne Research Veterinary is a supplement that enhanced healing process after bruising in animals.

Phytoprofen is a novel combination of botanicals, including a synergistic blend of the Ayurvedic herbs ?? Picrorhiza, Boswellia, and curcumin (bound to phosphatidylcholine for enhanced absorption ?? CurcuVET) ?? all of which support the animal's normal inflammatory response. To these botanicals is added bromelain ?? a protein-digesting enzyme complex from pineapple that studies have shown can reduce bruising after injury.

The botanical extracts in PhytoprofenVET are also helpful in minimizing post-operative / post-injury bruising and swelling. Supplementation with bromelain following blunt injuries to the musculoskeletal system resulted in reductions in swelling and tenderness.

A recent in vivo study examined Boswellia extract for its effect on glycosaminoglycan (GAG) metabolism. GAGs form an important component of an animal's connective tissues. Boswellia significantly reduced the degradation of GAGs compared to controls.

CurcuVET, a curcumin/phosphatidylcholine phytosome, demonstrates superior bioavailability compared to ordinary curcumin, with significantly greater amounts absorbed and taken up by the liver. A 2007 study published in the journal, Cancer Chemo- therapy and Pharmacology, demonstrated the superior bioavailability of curcumin phytosome (as Meriva??, the CurcuVET equivalent for humans) compared to ordinary curcumin. Liver levels of curcumin were also higher with this supplementation. In a more recent (soon to be published) randomized, single-blind, crossover study in nine humans, total curcuminoid bioavail- ability as evaluated by the plasma area under the curve (AUC) was about 29-fold higher for Meriva than for the conventional turmeric extract.
